Employment Law

It is important to remember that not all terminations or firings entitle you to bring a lawsuit or claim against your employer. Mississippi is an employment-at-will employment state. This means that your employer may terminate at any time and for any reason (unless you are a contract employee), as long as it is not illegal to do so.

However, if you have been terminated from your job as a result of your age, race, sex, religion, pregnancy, dis ability or national origin you likely have a wrongful termination claim. You may also have a claim if your employer terminated you for reporting illegal conduct or for refusing to participate in illegal activity yourself.

Please call Burns & Associates, PLLC and tell us about your situation. You may be entitled to recover back wages, reinstatement, future wages in lieu of reinstatement, punitive damages, attorneys' fees and costs and other damages.
